The Rodef Shalom: Transforming School Conflict through Rabbinic Texts
We are pleased to introduce you to Rodef Shalom: Transforming School Conflict through Rabbinic Texts. The Rodef Shalom program is a unique middle school project that integrates Jewish learning and the development of conflict resolution skills in a holistic way. We help Jewish middle schools equip students, as well as teachers, parents and administrators, to be skillful problem-solvers in social situations, active in the prevention of bullying and committed to creating a more peaceful world. Students engage with rabbinic texts in ways that are relevant and inspiring to the 21st-century learner, and schools become part of a larger network of diverse Rodfei Shalom schools. Rodef Shalom offers multiple entry points to becoming a certified Rodef Shalom school (more details here):
Rabbinics Program: Seven, inquiry-based, five-lesson units integrating Jewish texts and conflict resolution. Click for a sample unit introduction and overview and a sample lesson. All units include a teacher’s manual, a student workbook, and e-options.
Advisory Program: A two-part program focused on conflict resolution skills through a Jewish lens, designed for weekly advisory sessions or for a Judaics class as a stand-alone program.
The membership fees for 2014-2016 include access to all materials for two years, professional training - this summer's training will take place July 23-24, 2014, an on-site visit by a Rodef Shalom staff member and ongoing support from a Rodef Shalom coach.
